Work collaboratively with a team of physicians, clinical researchers, mathematician, computer scientists, and engineers to solve important medical problems in a world-class research facility. MGH is the top-ranked research hospital in the United States, and the MGH Department of Radiology has an exemplary history of supporting imaging research. We have advanced computing facilities, access to a wealth of high-quality medical imaging and pathologic data, and we understand key problems in medicine. The MGH/BWH Center for Clinical Data Science (CCDS) is a joint effort from Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The center is a cross-functional, cross-institutional group of clinicians, researchers, data scientists, product development and translational experts. The positions are jointly appointed by MGH Center for Advanced Medical Computing and Analysis (CAMCA) and CCDS. Our vision is to build a smart healthcare delivery system through the creation of an ever-learning and ever-changing set of machine learning-based tools and services. Our goal is to develop and deploy applications to empower clinicians and enhance outcomes.

The research fellow / instructor / assistant Professor will work closely with the team to develop machine learning based method to solve clinical problems. The candidate will be expected to pro-actively develop his/her research interests in the area. Candidates who seek a long-term academic career will have tremendous opportunities to grow.

Salary and Benefits:
The position is full-time with benefits. The salary is commensurate with experience.

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Applied Mathematics, Computational Statistics, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electricals Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience and background of computer science and data science, computer vision, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and medical image reconstruction and analysis are required
  • Image reconstruction and analysis skills as well as proficiency in C++, MATLAB, Python, Java, R and Linux are highly desired
  • Experience with radiology image reconstruction analysis is preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated record of high-quality publications is required
  • Strong communication skills in written and verbal English are required
  • Qualified candidates should be highly self-motivated and possess the ability to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary collaborative environment

System Managers Intern

MGH Center for Advanced Medical Computing and Analysis (CAMCA) and MGH Center for Ultrasound Research & Translation (CURT) are jointly seeking one System Manager Intern to provide hardware and software support for all computing resources of the two centers. The intern will work with the team to set up computing and storage systems, manage computing jobs, develop interfaces between the local and cloud applications, and ensure a smooth flow of data between them.

The principal duties of the System Manager Intern include:

  • Managing database systems daily and performing data transfer from/to the system.
  • Data analytics, including data cleaning, preprocessing, statistics, and visualization.
  • Communication with the team and project shareholders.

Skills required for this position include:

  • Comfortable with working on the Linux system.
  • Experience with cloud computing systems such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform, etc.
  • Experience with software development and deployment pipelines such as Docker and Kubernetes. Familiar with best practices in CI/CD.

Education requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree in computer science or related fields.

Other requirements:

  • The intern must be a student currently studying in U.S.

Data Scientists Intern

MGH/HMS Center for Advanced Medical Computing and Analysis (CAMCA) and MGH Center for Ultrasound Research & Translation (CURT) are jointly seeking Data Scientist Interns with an interest in model development and data analytics in healthcare, especially focusing on foundational models in medicine, generative AI, and translation/commercialization of the research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The intern is expected to perform coding and data processing tasks while working with the research team and physicians.

The principal duties of the System Manager Intern include:

  • Developing, optimizing, and applying machine learning models to improve patient care and provide efficiency gains in the clinical workflow.
  • Data analytics, including data cleaning, preprocessing, statistics, and visualization.
  • Communication with the team and project shareholders.
  • Publishing research results in machine learning and clinical communities through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.

Skills required for this position include:

  • Proficiency in coding using Python or other programming languages, with a willingness to learn Python.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and modeling, including proficiencies in commonly used machine learning libraries software.
  • Good writing skills, including capabilities in writing progress ports and scientific papers.

Education requirements:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or related fields required. Doctoral degree preferred.

Other requirements:

  • The intern must be a student currently studying in the U.S. Working on-site at Boston is not necessary but encouraged.
